About the Book
The Werewhale Saga is a fantasy series filled with supernatural twists and high seas suspense that is an entertaining follow-up to Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. When I worked with Ron on this cover, the three original prototypes looked absolutely nothing like the final product. Ron initially wanted a whale’s tooth and a compass to be featured on the cover, but the stock photography available for an authentic whale’s tooth left a lot to be desired. I did the best I could with what was available to me, but after completing the sample designs, we both agreed that this concept wasn’t going to work. So we went back to the drawing board. Ron sent me a few illustrated covers of books by Jeff Vandermeer that he found attractive and represented the tone of his own book. Inspiration struck immediately and resulted in the cover you see here.
