Hi, I'm Jessica Bell. My journey as a graphic designer began in a most unexpected way. In 2011, I self-published my first book, a poetry collection titled Twisted Velvet Chains. Fueled by an unwavering belief in the expression "if there's a will, there's a way," I embarked on a self-taught design journey. The reasons were twofold: I was on a shoestring budget, and I relished the creative challenge.

Shortly after my design debut, I began designing book covers as favors for author friends. Initially, I didn't charge for my services, as it was a great way to channel my creative energy. However, one of my friends recognized my talent and encouraged me to turn it into a business. Taking her advice to heart (thank you, Carol Cooper) I launched my career as a book cover designer. Since then, I've had the privilege of designing hundreds of covers for a wide range of authors and publishers, including indie, traditional, and hybrid. Many of these covers have graced bestseller lists and earned awards, with a few even finding their place on the shelves of WH Smiths at Heathrow airport.

As an author myself, I fully grasp the importance of incorporating an author's vision into a book cover. I aim to strike that balance between the author's creative vision, the right target audience, a professional design, and a touch of my own artistic flair. My approach to book cover design is marked by a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling. I'm also committed to pushing the boundaries of design to ensure that every book I touch comes with a little something special. My goal is to offer authors the support and creative collaboration they deserve, making them feel secure and valued throughout the design process. To ensure this, I start by having you complete a comprehensive client questionnaire, enabling me to deliver precisely what you desire – sometimes even before you realize you want it.

In my other creative pursuits, I am an award-winning author, writing and publishing coach, and a singer/songwriter. Furthermore, I hold the role of Publisher at Vine Leaves Press, emphasizing my commitment to bringing great books into the world.
